A Time To Mourn
Today my best friend mourns.
“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die…
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance…”
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 2 & 4 NLT
Today is a time to mourn. “Jesus wept” John 11:35 He knew within a short time He would embrace His dear friend again, but yet He mourned. Could it be that He looked down through time and saw my dear friend and the millions of others who have and will mourn? He has a tender heart like that. “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book” Psalm 56:8 NLT
A time to laugh, to laugh at the funny memories, the kind that put a smile on your face as you chuckle and say “yes, that was my Dad”. These are gifts to be gathered and cherished. Memories of laughter, of instruction, of hope, of comfort. “Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.” Luke 2:19 NLT
When I am excited I’m often told I have childlike enthusiasm. I jump up and down, clap my hands and dance around the room. It’s part of who I am. One day soon there will be one of those days! Most certainly a time to dance!!! “For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 & 17 “But those who die in the LORD will live; their bodies will rise again! Those who sleep in the earth will rise up and sing for joy! For your life-giving light will fall like dew on your people in the place of the dead!” Isaiah 26:19 NLT
As the Lord’s “..heart overflowed with compassion.” Luke 7:13 NLT at the sight of the grieving mother of old He likewise wipes our tears and tenderly says “don’t cry!” Soon there will be a time when “He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears…” Isaiah 25:8 NLT “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:4 NLT
The tears will dry as the seasons change but today is a time to mourn.
Beautifully hopeful Shawna…thank you for sending this. Lovely for your best friend. I’m thankful the comfort and caring are universal! Your friend will have hard weeks and as she rereads this from time to time she will be carried to a ‘sacred space’ and be blessed by her eternal Father. Thank you?
Thank you Kathy, one day soon all the tears will be wiped away forever!
Our family is going through a very difficult time and we ask for prayers from our spiritual family because we cannot fix this by our selves. Untrue accusations have been made and believed and since we are unable to speak to the ones that unfairly accuse us we are at a loss as what to do. Many prayers have been offered and we are desperately afraid souls may be lost.
I will pray for you Nelda, there is nothing worse than to be caught in a situation like you are. May God surround you with His peace, hold your hand and guide you through this hard time. <3
